The case of RC Cooper v. Union of India is generally known to us as the Bank Nationalization Case. Nationalization is the process of acquiring a private industry or private assets into public ownership by a national government or state. This case is the outcome of Banking Companies (Acquisition And Transfer Of Undertaking) Ordinance, 1969 which sought to nationalise 14 banks. The Judgement of RC Cooper v.
