WHATSAPP FORWARD AS AN EVIDENCE IN COURT OF LAW?

The Delhi High Court held that any document received as forward on WhatsApp cannot be treated as document without the Original or copy of the Original under Section 3 of The Indian Evidence Act, 1872. Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva made the above observation in the case of National Lawyers Campaign For Judicial Transparency & Reforms & Ors v. Union of India & Ors.

BETTING IN SPORTS TO BE LEGALISED?

In an unexpected move, All India Gaming Federation has submitted a White Paper to National Law Commission proposing the enactment of an gaming and betting law. It will legalise the betting on sports as well as cricket. “Right now, how the sector is structured is that gaming is a state subject and every state has a gaming or gambling act that governs what happens in the state, including the betting,” Roland Landers, CEO of the All India Gaming Federation (AIGF) said in an interview. This betting legalising will certainly earn more government revenue under the GST regime.

THE DELHI HIGH COURT GIVES RELIEF TO KEJRIWAL

The Delhi High Court has provided the exemption to Mr. Arvind Kejriwal from the personal appearance relating to a criminal Defamation case till the next date of hearing in a trial Court. The case has been filed against Arvind kejriwal by the Police Personnel for uttering the word ‘Thullah’ for describing the Police in a News Channel. ‘Thullah’ is a taboo word which is used to denote a slow moving police constable with a big gut.

DEADLINE TO REGISTER UNDER GST

The Finance Ministry has asked to register the traders under the Goods and Services Tax by July 30. Registration under GST is compulsory except two conditions. The two conditions are:

  1. if he involves in a trade of exempted goods or services or
  2.  if the turnover of business of any trader is less than 20 lakh.

RELIANCE JIO MOVES HC AGAINST AIRTEL AND OOKLA

Reliance Jio has approached the Bombay High Court against Airtel and OoKla against the Speed Test Ad describing Airtel being the fastest Network. In ad Global Broadband Tester Ookla has claimed that Airtel is the Fastest Network. Due to this, Reliance Jio stated that it has suffered Loss of reputation and money and it added that it amounts to conspiracy, defamation and breach of Trust.

BAN MANUAL SCAVENGING: HC DIRECTS

The Madras High Court has directed the Centre and Tamilnadu State Government to implement the the Prohibition of Employment as Manual Scavengers and their Rehabilitation Act, 2013 with full swing. Manual Scavenging is a symbol of violation of Human Rights. It is also violation of Art. 21 of Indian Constitution also. The First Bench of Chief Justice Indira Banerjee and Justice M. Sundar said “Section 7 of the Prohibition of Employment as Manual Scavengers and their Rehabilitation Act, 2013 bars persons from engagement or employment for hazardous cleaning of sewers and septic tanks.”
